Test different versions only to keep the best
Test different versions only to keep the best
The web is a flexible media that allows testing and measuring performance with ease. The main idea behind A/B and multivariate testing is to have certain sections or pages of website vary, while conversion rate is measured. The variation that obtains the highest conversion rate is selected to replace the original.
A/B Testing
A/B testing is used to compare the performance of two (or more) versions of the same page. Visitors are redirected to any of the tested versions. At the end of the test, one version will normally lead to more conversions and be selected for production, if a significant improvement on the original version is monitored.
Multivariate testing
Once we have stable page template, it is possible to further optimize it using multivariate testing. Elements of the page such as buttons, text or headlines can be tested with several versions. Those versions are randomly served to visitors and conversion is measured so that the best performing combination is detected.
